Designing with Heart, Purpose, & Rhythm.
Hello, I'm Alana
Founder of Banksia Bay Design Co.
A Little About Me
Having had the privilege of calling Zimbabwe, the UK, and New Zealand home before settling in Australia, I’ve experienced many ways of living — each one teaching me how spaces can hold people, shape rhythms, and nurture belonging.
Those experiences deepened my belief that good design isn’t about perfection — it’s about creating homes that restore, reflect, and make room for what matters most.
My creative path has always been grounded in making: from visual art and textiles to interior
design — shaped by a love of the handmade, the natural world, and the stories found in everyday beauty. Interior design became the place where those threads meet — where art and function, craft and care, come together to nurture daily life.
As a designer and maker, I’m drawn to the simple and the meaningful — creating spaces that are calm, purposeful, and deeply personal. Spaces that breathe, that serve, that feel lived in and loved.
And as a mother, wife, and friend, I understand that life is full, sometimes imperfect, and wonderfully human. My approach to design honours that — celebrating homes that hold us gently,
just as we are.

Rooted in Nature, Guided by Purpose
About The Studio
Banksia Bay Design Co. was born from a love of restoration, rhythm, and real spaces — and a desire to help others create spaces that feel like home.
Rooted in nature and guided by purpose, the studio exists to create spaces that welcome, inspire, and restore.
Each project is approached with care, curiosity, and intention — shaping environments that feel calm, connected, and deeply lived in.
Whether offering guidance, drawings, or hands-on support, my goal is to serve with creativity and compassion — crafting spaces that reflect your values, simplify your rhythms, and quietly honour the story of those who dwell within them.
