About Banksia Bay Living

Banksia Bay Living exists to help people create homes that better support the lives being lived

within them.

We believe our homes should evolve alongside us—adapting to changing seasons of life,

reducing unnecessary friction, and making room for what matters most.

Through professional organising, space planning, thoughtful interior styling and design support,
we help restore function, create calm and shape homes that feel deeply personal, supportive and beautifully lived in.

Because thoughtful design is about more than how a home looks.

It is about function.

Feeling.

And supporting the people who live within it.

Hello,

I'm Alana, the founder of Banksia Bay Living.

Having grown up across Zimbabwe, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand—and now calling Australia home,

I've lived in many homes and experienced many different ways of living.

Over the years, I've moved home more than thirty times.

Those experiences taught me that our surroundings quietly shape the way we live, feel, and function. They influence our rhythms, our wellbeing, and our sense of belonging.

That understanding became the thread that now guides everything I do at Banksia Bay Living: creating homes that restore, reflect, and make room for what matters most.

My creative journey has taken many forms—from visual art and textiles to interior design, space planning, and professional organising—always guided by a love of the natural world, the human story, and the handmade.

Over time, I realised my work was never really about creating beautiful rooms. It was about helping people create homes that genuinely support the life being lived within them.

As someone with a maker's heart, I love helping others shape spaces that are not only beautiful, but functional, nurturing, and deeply reflective of the people who live within them—homes that hold us, support us, and quietly make everyday life a little easier.

As a wife, mother, daughter, and friend, I understand that life is full, sometimes messy, and never perfect. That's why I don't design for ideals.

I design for real people.
Real life.
And homes that feel deeply lived in.

Because while we may find a house...

we make a home.

People First.
Spaces Second.
Aesthetics Third.

Everything we do begins with understanding people.

Before considering furniture, storage or finishes, we begin by understanding the people who live within the home — their routines, challenges, aspirations and season of life.

From there we seek to understand the home itself — where everyday life flows easily, where friction exists, and how the space can better support the people who live within it.

Whether restoring function through professional organising, improving flow through thoughtful space planning, refining a room through interior styling, or providing design guidance for future projects, every recommendation is guided by one simple question:

How can this home better support the life being lived within it?

Because real life is the design brief.

Ready to Begin?
